Learning disabilities

Larkstone’s Devon-based supported living and outreach services enable adults with learning disabilities to progress in independence while benefiting from the added confidence and reassurance that a familiar, safe and secure home environment can bring.

Our flexible services range from 24-hour support in our supported living services to as much or as little outreach support as service users living in the community require.

In supporting our service users with learning disabilities to enjoy the best possible quality of life, we encourage and enable each person we work with to take responsibility for their own thinking, planning and actions – including taking reasonable risks – in the way that is most appropriate for them.

A key element of this approach is to involve service users with learning disabilities in drawing up and implementing their own person-centred support plans, so that our services are tailored to their needs, wishes and aspirations.

We also promote independence through developing and maximising people’s abilities, offering wide-ranging opportunities for meaningful activities and interaction with others, to build self-esteem, confidence and life skills.
