Jack Balchin, Director

Jack qualified as a nurse in the 1960s and has almost five decades’ experience in wide-ranging roles within health and specialist care and support services.

In previous roles, he has set up a company to deliver specialist accommodation to 500 service users with complex needs as part of a national hospital closure programme, run a business providing specialist holidays for people with disabilities and led a company employing more than 500 people and operating 200 beds across 25 homes, specialising in conditions including acute and enduring mental health issues,

acquired and traumatic brain injury (ABI and TBI) and cerebral palsy and associated physical disabilities.

At Larkstone Jack is our ABI & TBI Case manager and his specialism in this field has been recognised by the Case Management Society UK(CMSUK, when he was twice runner-up in the CMSUK Case Manager of the Year Award, in 2010 and 2011.

He continues to be actively involved in clinical, support and training work with service users and support workers, giving him unique perspective of today’s care and support sector. Jack also provides our in-house counselling service.
